Vernon Davis commerical shoot… why I choose Vernon Davis
We shot our company commercial with Vernon Davis Thursday June 3rd and to say it was an amazing event would be an understatement. Vernon who is a friend from Maryland is one hell of a nice, well-rounded person and a success on and off the field.
A question I have been asked at least two dozen times since the shoot is “Brian, why did you choose Vernon Davis?”
The truth is that I do know a lot of professional athletes. From my playing times at the University of Tennessee, the various camps, charity events, training sessions and other activities I have been too over my life, my wife being a Redskins cheerleader and by brothers connections, there are dozens of similar football players I know and know me on a first name basis I could have chosen for the event.
But even with all of the available talent when we decided we were going to hire a front man for our company I didn’t even consider anyone but Vernon Davis. No one else was even an option.
Vernon, at least to me is the definition of success as a person. Regardless of his so-called “freakish” athleticism when I see Vernon Davis I see a person that is about much more than just football or athletics I see a person who is interested in living life. You can see it in his openness to new things, the way he treats all people the same regardless of who they are and the way he simply lives life. Even with all he has accomplished he is still Vernon Davis and that is a great thing.
I remember working out with Vernon and him constantly pushing me and himself. I remember him calling me and wanting to go workout during spring break (when everyone else was partying) and his comment to me was “Brian, I want to be the best, this is how you get better” . I remember when I had 315lbs on my card for incline press and he crossed it off and put 375lbs. He said “Brian, stop being a b*&!# and start lifting some real weight” . Those little things, that little voice that says “get better, push harder, you can do it” is something that’s in my mind and in his.
To me Vernon is a great person, from his art, his charity his curling, his friendship, his athletics and other interest. He is not just a football player or a “freak athlete” as everyone claims for him to be. Vernon is one of the hardest working people in the world, not just at football but at life. Everything he does he does his best and he is not afraid of being himself or even being criticized for being himself.
I really see him, as me. Someone who wants the best for everyone around him. Someone who isn’t looking for what they can “get” from someone but rather what they can give or what they can share and learn.
No one else was even considered for this position.
I look forward to the final commercial and video coming out next month.
OMG V-DAVIS!!!
